The No-Kill Movement

Maddie’s Spay-Neuter Project in Nevada is the first comprehensive program aimed at reducing the number of pets born in Northern Nevada. By reducing the number of births, we can reduce and eliminate the killing of healthy and treatable dogs and cats in animal shelters. Key features of the program include:

• Residents of participating Nevada counties who receive Medicaid or Nevada Check-Up program benefits may be eligible to participate in the program.


• Eligible residents can contact a participating veterinarian directly to schedule an appointment.


• Program participants will be responsible for paying the veterinarian a small co-payment; $20 for a dog, $10 for a cat. All other costs will be covered by the program.


• Each qualifying household can have up to six dogs and cats spayed or neutered under the program.
